WORKING DRAFT: (You can edit this space
like a wiki. Just click and type!)
If you attended either of the real estate conferences last week in
New York City, participated virtually (or just wish you had been
there), would you like to participate in a real estate round table
in Boston to learn about the latest industry trends? The
proposed debriefing would focus on three major issues: (1)
real estate technology, (2) trends, and (3) proposed reforms.
Everyone who attended is invited to share their perspective. Anyone from the Boston area who attended ConnectNYC and REBarCampNYC, is invited to make 5 minutes presentations. Invited guests include:
Whether you'd like to join this round table in person, or virtually, you can use this wiki event planner to develop an agenda by using the space below to nominate topics you'd like to present or questions you'd like to hear discussed.

REAL ESTATE REFORMS

DIRECTIONS
Berkman is on the 2nd floor at 23 Everett St. in Cambridge. The
room will be 202, the 2nd floor conference room and immediately to
the right once you walk up the stairs to Berkman.
http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/contact has links to
maps, directions, etc.
If anyone is planning on driving, it may be wise to park at the
Alewife T, in Harvard Square at a garage. Public transit is
definitely the best as street parking can be tight around here and
Everett St. itself is Cambridge resident permit only.
VIRAL INVITATIONS
You can also use the "Invite more" links to share this invitation with others you'd like to join us.
See you guys tonight. PS I have a new topic to bring to the table that happend today–I have just had a lawsuit filed against me by a traditional broker–

Hi Everybody!
I’m looking forward to following along from the west coast. Hopefully we’ll get some streams up and running.
As for best practices for virtual participation, i’m not sure if we’ve officially started one one, but my impression is that the qik streams from video enabled mobile devices seems to work best at for live streaming.
The networks at these events are usually under such a heavy load that streaming a webcam over them will either 1. not work, or 2. such up all the bandwidth and piss off the other attendees. That being said; if you’re meeting in a place with a robust network & plenty of bandwidth, a webcam is definitely the way to.

Tim, YES! My goal is to have at least one camera streaming LIVE and one recording video that all of us can share, repurpose, mash-up afterwards. By participating, we’re all collaborating on content creation, how can we / should we collaborate on LIVE stream / video capture? Your ideas and webcams are welcome, as are ZIPVO’s, CondoDomain’s and any other participants. I was impressed by the LIVE stream on www.mogulus.com/inmanconnect and will check that transcript for notes re “Best Practices” for virtual participation in future REBarCamps. My understanding is that Mogulus.com allows multiple camera feeds, so should we explore that solution tonight? I’ve already set up a channel and have begun experimenting, but need to test at Berkman before deciding which solution to use. At a minimum, I think virtual participants should be able to participate via conference call. Which solution would you / others recommend? LOGISTICAL FOOTNOTE: If time permits, I’ll develop PBwiki page to document recommendations for “best practices.” Tim, thanks for seeding the question and REALLY looking forward to your five minute show and tell tonight!

Have ypu thought about livestreaming the event? Perhaps an idea for future meetings…

Sounds buzz worthy, can you help drive people to the round table by saying you’ll reveal more info here?

Guys, Both Erica and I excited for tomorrow.
I may have some other news for you too….if it doesn’t hit the press today…you will see it tomorrow. Ohhh, its juicy!

James at Zipvo, thanks for editing your section above. Please feel free to add links, particularly if you shot video of any of either RE event. If you know tech folks at MAR or MLSPin who would be interested, please invite them!

Yan, thanks for noting ‘show/undo changes’ at the top of the planspace to view the editing history. Tony, if there is another unintended edit in the future, I’ll repair. Are you able to add LINKS to your edits above? If not, send them to me via email, and I’ll input them.

I re-edited. I love wiki-world (except when you make me redo my edits) :)
PS–MLS has a play in here in a big way. Let me think about it…but MLS/IDX/availability of data is what is changing this industry…not us little techie geeks.

Tony, did we lose your edits above? May have occurred while two people were editing this event planning wiki. Sorry.

Thanks for your comment, Tim. My preference is to do one meet-up, as you say below, then see if regular meeting takes root in Boston. I’m content to do this Thursday, while memoriries from #ICNY & #REBCNY are fresh, but open to doing the following week 1/22/09, particularly if Berkman decides to host a round table on Best of Consumer Electronics Show this week 1/15/09
RealEstateCafe shouted ago
Is it necessary to have back to back meetups? Can this be done on a monthly or quarterly basis? Why have on in Cambridge and Boston back to back? I would prfer if we just had one or the other, and then maybe schudle a regualr meeting say monthly, bi-monthly or quartely.

Nice edits above to REAL ESTATE TECHNOLOGY section. Tim White, are those bullet points from your award winning paper on the Road to Recovery?

Should we host one or more conference calls, or field visits to potential locations, to plan the proposed real estate round table? If you’d like to participate in a conference call any night this week, please include your phone number in a comment below or send email to realestatecafe [at] gmail [dot] com. Tony, Nice edits! Thanks. Glad to collaborate and look forward to your participation. Feel free to share this working draft on Facebook. Perhaps we can develop a model for other RE innovators around the country, and certainly in those markets where you are expanding!
